Orion Engineering & Consulting led a Design/Build effort for a 100% design and construction of a fender system at the KCS railway bridge in Beaumont. The design featured robust steel assemblies with concrete-filled piles, ensuring resilience against a 2,000 kip impact load. We provided construction services, navigating site changes through effective communication with our Marine team.
Beyond design contributions, our team actively participated in the construction phase by providing valuable services, including thorough submittal and request for information (RFI) reviews. Throughout the project, Orion encountered various site condition changes, highlighting the importance of effective communication between our Engineering & Consulting and Marine teams. This collaborative communication strategy proved instrumental in successfully navigating and implementing the necessary adjustments, ensuring the overall success of the replacement fender system project.
