The Amber Cove Cruise Terminal is a design-build project completed by Orion in Bahia Maimon, Dominican Republic. Completed for Carnival Corporation, it features a berthing pier for Royal Princess Class cruise ships. The facility consists of a pile-supported access trestle, pile-supported berthing pier with mooring/breasting dolphins, navigational aids, and an excursion pier. The project also required dredging and disposal of approximately 800,000 cubic meters of material.
The Amber Cove cruise terminal was designed and constructed by Orion and consisted of the construction of a berthing pier for two Royal Princess Class cruise ships. The facility is comprised of a pile-supported access trestle, pile-supported berthing pier with mooring/breasting dolphins, navigational aids, and an excursion pier. The access trestle, approximately 200m long by 10m wide, consists of a concrete deck supported by 762mm-diameter open-ended steel pipe piles. The berthing pier measures 328m long x 15m wide, with a concrete deck supported on 1,219mm-diameter open-ended steel pipe piles. Two pile-supported breasting/mooring dolphins are located at the end of the pier, creating a berthing length of over 388m on both sides of the facility. The project also required dredging and disposal of approximately 800,000 cubic meters, with a design dredge depth of -11.0m.
