NuStar Pipeline

Orion tackled NuStar Energy's pipeline remediation in Corpus Christi, Texas. The project involved lowering a 12-inch pipeline with less than three feet of cover, with approximately 75 linear feet of the line exposed. Challenges included hand jetting for proper elevation, utilizing 12 pallets/slingbags of burlap bags along the length of the excavation, and navigating shallow waters with specialized vessels. Orion's precision in addressing complexities paved the way to the project's success.

Project Highlights

  • Worked in shallow water conditions
  • Less than 3’ of cover for the lowered pipeline
  • Utilized shallow draft vessels for project requirements
  • Lowered approximately 270 LF of a 12” pipeline
  • Exposed approximately 75 LF of the pipeline
  • Hand jetting beyond 270 LF for proper pipeline elevation
  • Used 12 pallets/slingbags of burlap bags along the excavation length

Pipeline Remediation Excellence in Corpus Christi

Orion took charge of a crucial pipeline remediation project for NuStar Energy in Corpus Christi, Texas. The focus was on lowering approximately 270 linear feet (LF) of a 12-inch pipeline with less than three feet of cover, and exposing approximately 75 LF of the line.

Our team engaged in hand jetting beyond the initial 270 LF of shallow pipeline elevation to attain the required three feet of cover. To manage the complexity, 12 pallets/slingbags of burlap bags were strategically placed along the excavation length.

Navigating shallow waters posed an additional challenge, requiring the use of shallow draft vessels. Orion's adaptability and resourcefulness in overcoming environmental challenges were evident throughout this project. The successful completion of the pipeline remediation initiative underscores Orion's commitment to effective pipeline management and expertise in navigating intricate logistical and environmental hurdles.
